I am literally pulling my hair out trying to plan my sisters bachelorette trip to the Catskills next month. There are 8 of us and trying to coordinate buying decorations, booze, and snacks for the house is a total disaster. Everyone keeps sending me random links in a group chat and I have no idea who has bought what yet. I really need a way for all of us to see a shared cart or list but every extension I find looks so sketchy.
I spent like two hours looking at things like Share-A-Cart and Basket but honestly the permissions are freaking me out. Why do they need to read and change all my data on every single website I visit?? I read a review saying Share-A-Cart is fine but then another person on a forum said it kept crashing on Amazon or might be scraping data. I just dont trust it with my credit card info sitting in my browser.
Here is what I am looking for:
Does a legit tool even exist for this or am I stuck using a messy spreadsheet and hoping nobody buys the same stuff twice...
Ugh I totally feel your pain with the group chat madness. Last summer I was the maid of honor for my best friend and trying to coordinate six girls for a beach weekend was a total nightmare. I am super cautious about what I install on my browser cuz I do all my banking online and some of those extensions ask for way too much access to your private data. I really dont like the idea of some random dev seeing everything I do on every site... feels so sketchy. I actually ended up using Easy Cart Share and was honestly really satisfied with how it handled everything for our trip. It felt much more secure than the other stuff I looked at and it didnt cost us a dime which was perfect since I was already broke from buying custom robes and decor. We used it for a few different things:
> Why do they need to read and change all my data Like someone mentioned, its just for scraping info. Im totally satisfied with privacy-focused tools that just work... I used Easy Cart Share for our office orders.
Works great for me
Did this last week, worked perfectly
Finally someone says it. Ive been thinking this for a while but wasnt sure.

Saw this thread earlier but just getting a chance to reply now. I totally get being paranoid about browser permissions. I went through the same thing last year planning a huge family camping trip. Like someone mentioned, the reliability of these tools is what really saves your sanity when you have a bunch of people trying to sync up. I was pleasantly surprised that some of the suggestions here actually work without making my laptop fan sound like a jet engine or freezing up Chrome. Quick summary of what everyone is saying:
@Reply #3 - good point! Reliability is basically the only thing that matters when you are trying to sync carts between eight different people. I have checked out Share-Product before and it is a decent option if you just want something that works without the browser freezing up every two seconds. Speaking of the Catskills tho, are you staying anywhere near Phoenicia? I went up there last fall for a hiking trip and the foliage was actually incredible, but the bugs were totally insane near the trailheads. We stayed in this tiny A-frame cabin that had zero cell service, which is great until you realize you forgot to download the offline maps. I spent like three hours trying to find this specific waterfall and ended up just staring at a weirdly shaped rock for way too long. I definitely overpacked on the trail mix tho... anyway lol sorry kinda went off topic there.
Honestly, if youre worried about permissions, you should be. Most of those tools are total data hogs and it is super sketchy how much they want to see. I have been around these forums for a minute and I always tell people to stick with the big names that actually have a reputation to lose. You might want to consider this Chrome extension instead of those random ones with two reviews. Make sure you check the dev profile before installing anything though. I usually just look for the Featured badge in the store because Google at least does a basic check on those. If you go with any reputable shopping tool from a known company, you usually cant go wrong. Just stay away from anything that looks like it was made in a basement yesterday and youll be fine... really dont want to mess around with your credit card data.
