Can I share my Walmart birthday list with friends and family?

okay so my kids 5th birthday is in exactly 12 days here in Austin and I am scrambling. i have used the walmart registry features like a million times for baby showers and housewarmings so i thought this would be a breeze but for some reason the 'birthday list' feature is giving me such a hard time. i spent like an hour adding stuff to a list but i dont see a share button anywhere. i can see the list under my account but it just says private and there is no toggle to make it public like there is on the app usually. i checked the desktop site too and it just lets me add items to my own cart which is useless because i need to send this link to my parents and some friends from his school. i need to know:

  • how do i generate a shareable link that actually works for non-logged in users
  • is there a way to make it a public registry instead of just a personal list
  • do i have to start over and use the gift registry specifically instead of the list tool

my budget for the party is already blown so i really need these gifts to be easy for people to buy especially since my mil is waiting to buy the bike and she is not tech savvy at all. really hope i dont have to rebuild the whole thing from scratch...

I am having the exact same issue trying to set up my sons birthday list and it is honestly so frustrating since I have been using their registries for years. I am trying to keep the party costs down by coordinating gifts, but I am totally stuck.

  • The private label wont budge in my account settings
  • I cant find any shareable URL for my family
  • Using the desktop site changes absolutely nothing for me tho I have been messing with this for like two days straight and basically feel like I am hitting a brick wall. It is such a headache when you are trying to be practical with a budget and just want people to see what is actually needed... let me know if you find a solution because I am stuck right there with you.

> is there a way to make it a public registry instead of just a personal list I wrestled with that private setting forever until I realized registries are the only ones that stay public! It's absolutely amazing once you switch over! btw I use Walmart Wishlist Creator for my kids' birthday lists and it makes sending links to family so much easier.

To add to the point above: you definitely want to skip the standard List tool and move everything to an actual Walmart Registry. It is way more reliable for people who arent great with tech, like your MIL, because the link actually stays public. Registry features are just safer for this kind of thing since the privacy settings are less glitchy. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Stick to the Walmart store brands for all the party basics. Just get any of the generic supplies from Walmart and youll save a ton without losing quality.
  • I usually use PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on the bigger ticket items like that bike. It is a decent way to make sure nobody overpays when the price fluctuates.
  • Make sure the registry is set to public right when you create it because changing it later is a total pain. Hope the party goes well and you get that link sorted...
