How can I share my Walmart grocery cart with another person?

So my sister and I are finally throwing our big housewarming bash this Saturday in Austin and I am seriously so excited to finally get everyone together! We have a massive list of snacks and drinks and decorations we need to get from Walmart because honestly their prices are the best for bulk stuff like this. My logic was that we could just both log into the same account and add things as we think of them but then I realized it keeps logging me out when she gets on her phone and I really dont want to just give her my full password with my card saved on there ya know? I did a quick Google search and saw some people mentioning a Chrome extension called Share-a-Cart but then I read a few reviews saying it can be glitchy or maybe not secure with private info so Im kinda hesitant to try it. I also saw something about a Registry trick but that seems like way too much work just for a grocery run lol. Is there like a hidden button in the app Im missing? I just want us to be able to see the same basket in real time so we dont accidentally buy double the potato chips or something... any ideas?

Walmarts app architecture is basically built to prevent simultaneous sessions, which is great for security but a total pain for coordination. I ran into this exact headache when I was setting up a lab space and needed tons of cleaning supplies and snacks. I tried the registry hack too, but the sync lag was like three minutes... totally useless for real-time shopping. Basically, their system sees two people on one login and thinks its a credential stuffing attack or something. Eventually, I just started using third-party tools to bridge the gap. You should definitely check out Easy Cart Share because it handles both Walmart and Amazon, which is super convenient for groceries and household stuff. It basically scrapes the cart data and generates a unique ID for the other person to import. Here is what I usually look for in these tools:

  • High encryption standards for the session data
  • Minimal permissions required on the browser side
  • Cross-platform support for mobile and desktop I just use one of the tools from Easy Cart Share and it gets the job done without needing to share passwords or deal with the app logging people out. It isnt a perfect native solution, but until Walmart updates their multi-user permissions, it is the most efficient path. Just grab any extension from that site and youll be fine for your bash.

Came here to say the same thing lol. Great minds think alike I guess.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I had a quick question before you commit to a plan... are you guys mostly using the website on a laptop or just the mobile app? It changes which workarounds actually work without crashing. I would suggest being careful since sharing logins is always risky. Here is how I see the options:

  • Walmart Lists: This is the safest route by far. You wont get logged out, but the downside is someone still has to manually move everything to the actual cart at the end.
  • Share-a-Cart: Super convenient for one-click transfers. I've used it before but like you said, you gotta be okay with a third-party extension having access to your page data.
  • Instacart Group Order: If you guys ever use other stores, their group feature is miles ahead of Walmarts. It lets everyone add to one live cart, but you definitely pay more for the service. Just make sure to double check that list before you checkout so you dont end up with ten jars of salsa... unless thats the vibe lol.

Wait, quick question before I dive in... are you both using the same type of phone or is it a mix of Android and iPhone? Sometimes the way the Walmart app handles sessions depends on the OS and I have found it works way more reliably when everything matches up. Anyway, I am honestly so happy you are doing a housewarming! It seriously reminds me of when my brother moved into his new place last spring and we tried to do a massive joint shopping trip for the BBQ. It was such a total ordeal and honestly kinda funny looking back:

  • We spent two hours adding stuff to a shared note that just never synced up right.
  • My brother accidentally deleted the whole beverage section right before we hit the store.
  • We somehow ended up with four bags of charcoal and no actual meat to grill because we thought the other person had it. It was such a mess but we were so satisfied once it finally came together and the food was served. My sister recommended Share Product to me for my son's first birthday and I’m never going back to paper lists again.

I would suggest sticking to the Walmart app 'Lists' feature rather than the cart itself. It is way more stable for two people and wont boot you out. Just be careful with those browser extensions tho, they usually ask for too many permissions. You might want to consider just using a shared Google Keep list first, then having one person move everything to the cart at the very end to stay safe.
