My 30th is coming up in literally 10 days and my friends are blowing up my phone asking what I want and honestly I'm stressed because I dont want duplicates or stuff I wont use.
Im torn between these few ways to do it:
I need something free and super easy for them to use on their phones because they definitely wont download an app just for my birthday. Is Giftful actually reliable for tracking what's been claimed already or should I just stick to the classic Elfster vibe?
^ This. Also, jumping in here because I have been the unofficial gift coordinator for my crew for years. I am honestly so satisfied with how far these tools have come. I remember trying a massive spreadsheet for my 25th... it was a total disaster. Someone accidentally deleted my whole "wants" column while trying to scroll on their iPhone. Lesson learned. Now I prioritize a few technical things:
Building on the earlier suggestion, Elfster really is the safest bet for a 10-day timeline. In my experience, reliability beats a clean interface every single time. Over the years, I have tried many of these platforms, and the biggest hurdle is always user friction. If your friends have to deal with a buggy claim button or a site that lags, they will just give up and text you instead... which is exactly what you are trying to avoid. Cost-wise, these tools are almost always free, so that is a plus. My practical advice is to prioritize the mobile browser experience. Since they wont download an app, you need a site that is stable on Safari or Chrome. Honestly, Elfster is a bit clunky, but its claim system is rock solid. If you want a slightly more modern feel without the glitches, I have found that Giftster is another veteran favorite that is super easy for guests to navigate. Just make sure whatever you pick doesnt require them to sign up just to see the list because that is the quickest way to kill participation.
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
Unfortunately Giftful was a letdown for my last party. The claim feature lagged and I ended up with duplicate blenders, so just stick to Elfster because reliability is basically everything here.
