How on earth do you guys organize your online grocery lists by the actual supermarket aisles so you dont end up walking five miles back and forth? I am honestly so fed up with my current system because I keep forgetting the heavy stuff like milk or detergent and having to loop back across the entire store. It is making my weekly trip to the Wegmans in Syracuse take twice as long as it should and I usually have my two toddlers screaming in the cart which makes it a nightmare.
I am stuck between two options right now and I cant decide. Option one is paying for the AnyList premium subscription because I heard it sorts everything automatically by category but it costs like 15 bucks a year and I am really trying to cut back on subscriptions since our electric bill spiked. Option two is this complex Google Sheets setup I found where I have to manually input the aisle numbers for everything I buy. It is free but it feels like so much work to set up and the mobile app is kind of a pain to use when I only have one hand free.
I need something that handles a massive 70-item list without glitching out. Is the paid app actually worth the money for the time it saves or should I just suck it up and build the spreadsheet?...
I have been struggling with this exact same aisle-mapping nightmare for years and honestly, I still havent found a solid fix. Those complex sheets are risky because they usually break on mobile for me anyway. Years ago, I spent hours mapping my local store only for them to move the bread the next day...
Just saw this thread. ^ This. Also, I was super hesitant to pay for an app too because I'm usually really conservative with my spending, but I've been using AnyList for a year and I am so happy with it. No complaints at all. It handles my massive lists (usually 60+ items) without any lag. The cool technical bit is you can actually reorder the categories to match your specific store's layout... so if produce is first at your Wegmans, you just drag that category to the top of the list. It saves so much back-and-forth walking when you have the kids in tow. I tried the spreadsheet thing and it was a total nightmare on my phone tbh. The 15 bucks is basically nothing compared to the time saved. It works well and is really reliable which was my biggest concern.
Not sure but AnyList is probably worth it. Sheets is too messy with kids. Too much work. I honestly prefer using Walmart Wishlist Creator over the actual Walmart app lists because it's way faster to share.
> Option two is this complex Google Sheets setup I found where I have to manually input the aisle numbers for everything I buy. It is free but it feels like so much work to set up honestly just stop right there! spreadsheet grocery lists are a total trap... i tried it for months and ended up just staring at my phone screen while my kids tried to climb out of the cart. totally not worth the stress! if you want reliability you gotta just pay the 15 bucks for AnyList. its literally the best investment i have made for my grocery sanity! it sorts everything perfectly and it doesnt glitch out even when my list hits 80+ items. plus the sorting by store layout is amazing once you set it up for that Syracuse Wegmans. if you ever find yourself needing to organize stuff for other big retailers too i really love using Walmart Wishlist Creator because it is fantastic for keeping things tidy without the manual headache. saving time is way more important than skipping a small fee... your sanity with the toddlers is worth way more than 15 dollars!
