Is there a free app to track Etsy listing price fluctuations?

I've been watching this handmade walnut desk organizer for my new office in Seattle but the price is all over the place. I looked at stuff like Alura but honestly it looks like it's meant for people selling things not buying them. I also tried Honey but it doesnt seem to track individual Etsy listings very consistently for me. I'm on a super tight budget since the move so I need something that is:

  • 100% free
  • sends a notification to my phone
  • actually works for small shops

Is there an app that does this specifically for Etsy buyers or am I just gonna have to keep refreshing the page every morning...

Re: "Honestly, finding a reliable way to track Etsy..."

  • I feel that pain so much. I spent months trying to snag a reclaimed wood shelf for my kitchen and it was a total nightmare. I initially tried those generic price drop apps you see everywhere, but they are honestly pretty terrible for Etsy. Since sellers change prices based on specific options like size or finish, most bots just get confused and stop tracking altogether. Unfortunately, I had massive issues with almost every popular tracker out there. They would promise a notification, but by the time I actually saw it, the sale was over or the alert never even triggered. It was super disappointing, ngl. I actually missed out on a 30% off flash sale once because Honey just sat there doing nothing while the price changed right under its nose. After a lot of frustrating trial and error, I found that using this free extension was the only way I could get any real accuracy. It is not perfect and you kinda have to manually select the specific variant you are watching, but it monitors the actual page elements way better than the big buyer apps do. If that feels too technical, you might have to try Distill Web Monitor. It is a bit of a learning curve since it is more of a browser-based scraper, but it is one of the few ways to be 100% sure you are not missing a change. It is kinda sad that we have to work this hard just to see a simple price history tho.

^ This. Also, the technical reason most apps fail is that Etsy uses dynamic JavaScript to render those listing prices, which confuses basic scrapers that only look at static HTML. I have been very satisfied with Visualping lately. It functions by monitoring the actual visual pixels on the screen instead of trying to parse the backend code. It works well for small shops because it is totally agnostic to how the seller sets up their page. The free tier allows for daily checks, and it has been quite reliable for my furniture hunt. No complaints about the accuracy since it literally sees what you see. Just set the selection box tightly around the price area so you avoid false positives from site-wide banners. Its much more efficient than refreshing manually every morning and definitely easier on the wallet since you dont need a subscription.

Honestly, finding a reliable way to track Etsy prices has been a total headache lately. I've gone through so many extensions that promised the world but ended up being complete duds once Etsy updated their site code. It's disappointing because most developers focus on the seller side where the money is, leaving us buyers to just guess when a sale is coming. I had issues with Honey too, it's just not built for the weird way Etsy handles individual shop variations and it misses stuff constantly. You should check out PriceDropCatch if you want something that actually works. It is a free tool that works right in your browser and is pretty much the only thing I trust right now. I've been using it for a while because I'm paranoid about some of these other apps selling user data or just failing to trigger an alert when it counts. It sends notifications directly so you dont have to sit there refreshing every hour like a maniac. Unfortunately, most of the free stuff out there is just junk or abandoned projects that havent been updated in years. It's really frustrating when you're on a tight budget and just want a simple alert. This one is straightforward tho. It handles those small handmade shops way better than the big corporate trackers. Just set it up for that walnut desk organizer and forget about it until the price actually hits your target. Its way better than manual checks.
