Is there a way to send a Walmart cart to another person?

I am literally pulling my hair out right now over this stupid Walmart app. My sister down in Orlando is super sick with the flu and I told her I would handle the grocery shopping for her so she doesnt have to leave the house but oh my god why is it this hard?? I spent like forty-five minutes picking out everything she needs - soup, meds, some Gatorade, even some fresh fruit - and I have about $180 worth of stuff in this cart ready to go. I thought there would be a simple share cart or send to friend button like some other sites have but I cannot find it for the life of me.

Im doing this from Chicago and I just want her to be able to open the link on her phone and pay for it with her own card since I already hit my budget for the month helping her out with rent last week. I tried looking through the account settings and the checkout page but there is nothing. Is there some kind of workaround or a hidden feature I am missing here?? I really dont want to have to take screenshots of every single item and send them to her one by one because that is going to take forever and I am already running late for my shift. Does anyone know if there is a way to just send the whole cart over to her account or something? This is so frustrating...

Unfortunately, there is no direct share cart button in the Walmart app, which is really disappointing. I had issues with this exact scenario a few months ago while trying to help a friend who was stuck at home. The app is not as good as expected for collaborative shopping because the items are tied to your specific account session. It is quite a letdown that such a massive retailer does not have a simple way to transfer a cart to another user. Since you cannot send the cart itself, you have to use the list feature as a workaround. It is not perfect, but it is the most methodical way to do it without sending a hundred screenshots.

  • First, you need to go into your cart and save every item to a new List
  • Second, go to your account and navigate to the My Items section to find that list
  • Third, click the share icon at the top of the list to generate a link you can text her
  • Finally, she will have to open that link and manually add the items to her own cart I have been using Walmart Wishlist Creator for a while now to organize my potential purchases and it is super convenient for keeping things sorted. It is a bit of a hassle that the official app makes you take these extra steps, but it is basically the only real-world solution for your situation right now. Walmart really needs to update this tho because it is way too complicated for no reason.

Honestly, the way Walmart handles their session data is kinda old school. Their backend stores the cart items tied directly to the user account ID and local session rather than generating a sharable URL parameter like some more modern e-commerce APIs do. It is annoying but i have actually found a pretty solid way around it that works well for me whenever i am helping family. The most satisfied i have been with a workaround is just sharing the login for a minute. If you give her your credentials, she can open the app on her phone, and the cart should sync across devices almost instantly because it is server-side storage. Since you already did the legwork in Chicago, she will see everything right there. She can then just swap the payment method to her own card at the final step. I do this all the time and it works like a charm, no complaints about how it handles the handover. One thing to watch for--since you are in Chicago and she is in Orlando, she will need to change the store location to her local zip code once she logs in. The cart persists across the account session, but inventory is local. Most of the stuff like Gatorade and fruit will be fine, but if a specific med is out of stock in Orlando, the app will just flag it. If you are worried about security or dont want her in your main account, another technical route is the List feature. You can move items from the cart to a list, name it something like Flu Supplies, and then there is actually a share icon for lists specifically. She can then add all to cart from her end. It is an extra step but way better than screenshots... basically just uses their internal database to bridge the gap.

@Reply #2 - good point! Authenticate using her credentials on your device to sync the amazing server-side session data instantly! Its a fantastic, zero-cost method to populate her cart remotely!

Just saw this thread and I have to chime in because there is a truly fantastic way to handle this securely! Instead of messing with account logins which can be a huge security risk, you should definitely use the Share-A-Cart extension. Super reliable tool. Its an amazing way to handle the technical side of transferring data between sessions with incredible reliability. Basically, it bundles your cart into a simple code that your sister can just plug into the same extension on her browser. I use it constantly because its so safe and methodical. This ensures every single soup and med you picked out gets transferred perfectly without her needing your password or you needing hers! This is honestly the most professional and secure workaround out there for Walmart shopping... it works like a charm every time.

Wow ok that changes things. Gonna have to rethink my approach now.
