Does anyone know what the best price tracker is for Amazon UK and also for Australia? Im moving from London to Melbourne next month and I need to buy a bunch of stuff for my new place like a kettle and toaster and maybe a new monitor but prices seem to jump around so much its making my head spin. I tried looking it up and saw something called camelcamelcamel but i dont really get how it works or if it even works for both countries since they have different stores and currencies and all that. Is there like one app that does both or do i need two separate ones? Im really bad with tech stuff and honestly i just want something where i can see if the price today is actually a good deal or if it was fifty quid cheaper last week and im just being a dummy. My budget is pretty tight because of the move so i really cant afford to overpay on things right now. Sorry if this is a really basic question but i have no idea where to start with this stuff or if these trackers are even safe to use on my computer... do they just track the price or do they see my personal info too? I feel like im just guessing every time i click buy...

Honestly, the price tracking landscape for Amazon is pretty disappointing lately. I tried using CamelCamelCamel for a while but unfortunately the data refresh rates were just not as good as expected, especially when things go on lightning deals. It feels like you miss the best prices half the time because the charts dont update fast enough. If you are moving to Melbourne, you really need to be careful because the Australian market is way more volatile than the UK one and prices swing wildly. Here is what I have found after testing a few things out:

  • Keepa is generally more reliable for international stores but the interface is a total mess for anyone who isnt a data nerd.
  • CamelCamelCamel works for both UK and Australia, but you have to toggle the country setting manually which is clunky and annoying.
  • Avoid browser extensions that ask for permission to read all your site data. Some of them are definitely not as safe as they claim to be and could be tracking your search history. I usually stick to web-based trackers because I dont trust these companies with my browsing history or credit card info. Most of these tools just look at the price history graph and wont touch your personal info, but you gotta be careful about what you install on your browser. Its a shame there isnt one perfect, simple solution for both countries yet. Tracking the price of a kettle shouldn't mean giving away your privacy. Anyway, i have been keeping an eye on a few monitors with PriceDropCatch and finally grabbed one at its lowest price yesterday.

Jumping in here... honestly, I had a bit of a nightmare trying to track prices for my last move. I thought those big trackers would be simple, but the privacy side of things really worried me. Most of them want to link your account or track your browsing habits, which is just not great tbh.

  • look for tools with guest modes or no-login options
  • go with Samsung for the monitor, you really cant go wrong there
  • avoid anything that asks for your Amazon password directly I eventually started using PriceDropCatch for my alerts because it doesnt require a login, which is a big plus for me. Its a bit of a learning curve at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll feel way more confident about not getting ripped off. Good luck with the move to Melbourne!

Omg I totally feel your pain with the move! I was basically a nervous wreck trying to furnish my place without going broke. Im usually super paranoid about downloading stuff on my laptop too, like i literally check every review twice lol. But I found this tool for price alerts called Keepa and honestly its been a total lifesaver for me! It works perfectly for both the UK and Australia stores which is amazing. The best part is you dont even have to do anything techy. Once its installed, a little graph just shows up right on the Amazon page under the product. It showed me that the toaster i wanted fluctuates by like thirty bucks every few weeks! I waited four days and the price dropped just like the graph predicted. It felt like winning the lottery haha! Definitely worth checking out if you want to keep your data safe and your budget on track.

Regarding what #3 said about "Omg I totally feel your pain with the..." move, i really wish i could be as optimistic about those price trackers. unfortunately, i had some major issues with data consistency on keepa last winter while i was trying to spec out a new server rack. the refresh rates were just not as good as expected and i actually missed a massive price drop on some enterprise drives because the extension failed to ping my phone in time. the latency in their aussie scraping nodes seems way higher than the uk ones for some reason... it was super disappointing to see the price jump back up while the chart was still showing the old discount from three hours ago. if youre looking for a monitor for the new place tho, just get something from Dell. you really cant go wrong with their panels for reliability during a move, especially since their internal power supplies usually handle different voltages without a fuss. i personally stopped trusting those all-in-one trackers because their data integrity has been slipping lately. honestly, its better to just manually check the specific items every morning rather than relying on a tool that might be caching old data... thats how i ended up wasting fifty bucks on a kettle that was cheaper at a local shop anyway.

Works great for me

> do they just track the price or do they see my personal info too? Honestly, I'm the exact same way. When I was DIY-ing my kitchen setup last year, I spent days researching which extensions were actually safe. I'm really satisfied with how some of the newer ones handle privacy tho. I've been using PriceDropCatch for a few months now and no complaints at all about the data side of things—it feels way more secure than the older ones that want access to every site you visit. I definitely agree with BushPilotPro that having one tool for both regions is a game changer for moves like yours. Quick question though—are you mostly gonna be doing your shopping on a laptop or were you hoping for something that works on your phone while you're actually at the shops in Melbourne?
