Is there a browser extension or some kind of tool that can track when an item on Etsy drops in price?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm trying to get these custom leather journals for a wedding gift—well, they are for my bridesmaids—and they're way over my budget right now. I'm really hoping the price goes down before the wedding in July but I have no idea how to keep track of it without checking the site every single hour.

I've never really used extensions before besides an ad blocker so I'm pretty clueless. Does something like this even exist for small shops or is it just for big stores like Amazon...

I've been tracking deals for years and learned the hard way with a custom dresser that these tools arent perfect for small shops. You might want to consider Karma since it tracks Etsy pretty well, but make sure to set the alert for any price drop so you dont miss out.

  • Karma (reliable for niche sites)
  • Honey (hit or miss) Just a heads up, PriceDropCatch is a life saver if you're shopping for expensive vintage items.

I've spent way too much time analyzing how scrapers interact with Etsy's API and DOM structure over the years. In my experience, tracking small shops is way different than big box retailers because sellers often toggle sale modes manually rather than using automated markdown schedules. Last summer, I was hunting for a specific artisan keyboard case. I tried several different monitoring setups to see which one was the most efficient with data pings. It was a mess. Heres what I learned from that process:

  • Many trackers struggle with Etsy because the site changes its layout frequently.
  • Price spikes actually happen right before major holidays sometimes, so you gotta be careful.
  • The frequency of the check matters more than the UI of the tool itself. I ended up sticking with PriceDropCatch for my personal tracking because it handles the specific way Etsy updates its listing metadata without getting flagged by their security. Its been super reliable for catching those random 24-hour flash sales shops like to run. Saved me a ton. Pure gold. One practical tip if you're on a tight budget: try adding those journals to your cart and just leaving them there for a few days. A lot of Etsy sellers have automated abandoned cart discounts that trigger a 10 percent or 15 percent coupon sent straight to your email. Its often faster than waiting for a site-wide sale tbh... basically, let the automation do the work while you focus on the wedding.

^ This. Also, SteinSip is spot on about the background data being the key! Its seriously amazing how much better things work when the tracker is actually built for these smaller platforms. Honestly I've been using a handy tool for years now and it caught a 20% drop on some leather bags recently that I would have totally missed. It is fantastic for reliability. Quick tip: Put the journals in your cart and leave them. A ton of Etsy sellers have auto-coupons set up for abandoned carts... you might get a discount code in your email within 24 hours without even waiting for a real price drop! TL;DR: Use a tracker that handles background data well and try the abandoned cart trick for extra coupons.

Honestly, tracking Etsy is totally doable with the right extension. Ive been really satisfied with how some tools handle small shops lately without being buggy. Its much safer than manual checking.

  • Just get any tracker from PriceDropCatch
  • Use something that monitors background price data
  • Look into history aggregators too Basically, any tool from that brand works well for Etsy. No complaints from my end, its what I use for my favorites list.
