How do I set up price alerts in Chrome extensions?

How do I actually get price alerts working on these chrome extensions without them just spamming my junk folder or doing absolutely nothing? I've been trying to track this specific espresso machine—the Breville Bambino Plus—because I finally saved up about 500 bucks for it but the price keeps jumping around like crazy between Amazon and Best Buy and I'm scared I'm gonna miss the dip. I downloaded CamelCamelCamel and Honey because everyone online says they are the gold standard for this stuff but honestly I am just totally lost.

I read that you just click the little icon in the browser bar but when I click the Honey one it just shows me coupons or wants me to join their rewards thing which I dont really care about. Then I tried Camel and it has like three different buttons and none of them clearly say alert me when it hits this price now. I even watched a YouTube tutorial but the guy had a completely different layout than what I'm seeing on my screen so maybe they updated it recently or something and I'm just looking at old info? It is driving me nuts because I really want to buy this before my sisters birthday next Friday and I dont want to miss a flash sale just because I couldnt figure out a stupid settings menu. Do I have to leave the browser tabs open all night for the tracking to stay active or is it supposed to ping me even if my laptop is shut...

Honestly, you might want to consider being careful with what permissions you give them tho... some of them track way more than they should imo. I would suggest looking at Keepa instead if the others are being too confusing. Just get any tool from that brand and you cant go wrong. You definitely dont need to leave your tabs open all night. The alert is saved on their servers so it works even if your laptop is shut or you are totally offline. Just make sure to check your junk folder once or twice so you dont miss the notification for that machine. It can be a bit scary trusting an app for a big purchase like that but you can do it.

Regarding what #1 said about "> I read that you just click the..." -

  • I missed sales when my laptop slept.
  • Switched to server pings for my gear hunt, ngl its better.

Honestly, I've had issues with those big name extensions too. Last year I was trying to snag a lens for my camera and set up alerts on everything, but unfortunately the big ones just didnt ping me in time. One of them actually sent the email four hours after the flash sale ended... totally missed the deal and felt so defeated. It's just not as good as expected when they prioritize rewards over speed. Basically, you dont need to keep your tabs open if the tool uses server-side tracking, but a lot of the popular ones are kinda buggy with that. I switched my setup to this Chrome extension and it actually caught a price drop on a grinder for me last month while I was asleep. These things can be a headache to figure out tho... lmk if you still cant get the alerts to trigger and I can walk you through it. Youll get that Bambino eventually, dont worry!
