Im seriously losing my mind with Amazon right now. Ive been trying to decide between the Sony WH-1000XM5s, the Bose QuietComfort Ultras, and maybe the Sennheiser Momentum 4s for my flight to London next month and the prices are literally jumping around like crazy. I had the Sonys in my cart at $328 this morning but by the time I finished my coffee and went to check out they were back up to $398??
Then I looked at the Bose ones and they dropped by twenty bucks then went back up ten minutes later when I refreshed the page on my phone. Its like I'm playing some high stakes stock market game just to buy some headphones. My budget is strictly $350 and I need them before the 15th so I'm trying to time this perfectly but I feel like the site is tracking my every move and raising prices because it knows I'm interested. I tried clearing my cookies and using a VPN but it didnt seem to matter much.
Does anyone actually know how this dynamic pricing algorithm works behind the scenes? Is it based on my browsing history or is it just some global supply thing that everyone sees at the same time? I feel like I'm getting targeted because I've checked the page five times today and now everything looks more expensive...
Re: "> Does anyone actually know how this dynamic..." - yeah it really is just a glorified supply and demand game, but its honestly exhausting to keep up with. I hate how they treat loyal customers like we are day traders or something. It definitely doesnt feel as straightforward as it used to and the price swings are getting ridiculous. Tbh you should just search how amazon pricing works on Reddit or YouTube... there are tons of deep dives that explain the scraping bots and competitive triggers way better than I can. I saw a crazy video about it a few months back that explains why the VPN trick usually fails now. I gave up on manual tracking because its a total waste of time. I just use PriceDropCatch now to get alerts when things actually hit my price range. It beats getting stressed over a $70 jump while you're just trying to finish your coffee.
> Does anyone actually know how this dynamic pricing algorithm works behind the scenes? It is just supply and demand! I love the Sennheiser sound tho, its amazing! Just get any Sennheisers you see, they are so reliable and fantastic for travel!
