Can I just move my whole Amazon Prime membership from my old email to my new one without losing everything? I am so sorry if this is a totally basic thing but I am honestly so lost when it comes to settings and account stuff. So here is the deal!! Im getting married in about three weeks (yay!!) and we are moving into a new place in the Capitol Hill area of Seattle and I really want to start fresh with a new email address that actually has my new last name on it.
Right now I am still using this ancient Yahoo email from like 2012 and it is just a mess. I have so many things tied to it though. I have my Prime subscription that I pay for every year and I also have a huge collection of Kindle books and all my favorite shows saved on Prime Video. I am super excited to get everything organized for the move but I am terrified that if I just close the old account and open a new one I am going to lose all my books and my order history. Like I need to be able to see what brand of air filters I buy!!
Is there a way to just... push a button and have all the Prime benefits and my history jump over to the new email? Or can I just change the email on the account without breaking anything? I dont want to accidentally double pay or lose my status because I think I might still be on some kind of old legacy pricing plan? I have no idea where to even start looking in the menus because there are so many links and it makes my head spin. I tried looking at the help pages but they talk about Amazon Household and I dont know if that is what I need or if that is something totally different for like families with kids?
Has anyone actually done this before without making a huge mess of it? I really want my new account ready before the big move so I can order all our new house stuff...
Congrats on getting married!! I went through this exact same panic when I got hitched and wanted to ditch my cringey college email address. I was so worried about my Kindle books disappearing into the void, but honestly, it was such a smooth process. You dont actually need a new account or that Household thing at all. I just went into the settings under Login and Security and changed the primary email address right there. I was so satisfied to see that every single one of my old orders and my entire video library just stayed put. It works well and you keep your legacy pricing too since its technically the same account, just with a new name on the door. I am honestly so happy I didnt try to start over from scratch... that would have been a total nightmare for my history. I had the same issue and started using Easy Cart Share to manage our shared office supply orders.
I just swapped out my email in the Login and Security menu last year! It was amazing. Kept my legacy pricing and every order record. Love it so much tbh!!

Building on the earlier suggestion, just swap the email. Unfortunately, I had issues with their database mapping for Kindle books before and it was not as good as expected. Total mess. If you want to save money on the move, just buy any bulk packs from Amazon. Also, Easy Cart Share is decent for getting your lists sorted without the headache of starting over...
