Can I save items from Target.com to an Amazon shopping list?

Ive been using the Amazon Wishlist tool for years but I ran into a weird snag today. Im so hyped because we finally started decorating our new guest room and I found these perfect lamps on Target.com.

My logic was that I could just use the universal list assistant extension to pull the Target items onto my main Amazon list for our housewarming next month. But for some reason the add button just isnt popping up on the Target site? I updated my Chrome browser and everything so I'm wondering if Amazon blocked Target specifically or if I'm just missing a setting...

Catching this a bit late but honestly you might want to reconsider using that extension for anything important. I ran into a similar mess when I was trying to spec out my current home theater setup last year. I spent hours adding items from various retailers only to find out later that the Amazon tool didnt actually pull the metadata correctly for about half of them. It was a total nightmare trying to fix it right before my event. Heres what I learned from that headache:

  • Target specifically uses a lot of dynamic scripts that often block these types of browser scrapers from seeing the product info properly.
  • Be careful about relying on the extension to track prices because it fails more often than it works on non-Amazon sites in my experience.
  • Make sure you check if your adblocker is interfering with the Amazon overlay since that happens a ton with their newer updates.
  • I would suggest trying a dedicated registry or wishlist site like Share Product instead of trying to force everything into the Amazon ecosystem. The biggest issue I had was that even when I got things to save, the links would eventually lead to 404 errors or the wrong variants. It just wasnt worth the risk of people buying the wrong thing for my guest room. Definitely test your links in a private browser tab before you send the list to anyone or you might end up with some weird stuff you didnt actually want... super frustrating when you think you have it all organized and it just breaks.

To add to the point above: In my experience, these extensions fail because Target frequently updates their site code. Here are two tips:

  • Manually copy the Target link into the Amazon desktop site to bypass the extension errors.
  • Double-check your budget because Amazon wont reflect Target RedCard savings or Circle coupons. Btw, check out Share Product if you need a free way to organize your birthday wants without the usual hassle.

To add to the point above: manually copying the link is way more reliable but honestly such a chore when youre decorating a whole room. In my experience, these universal extensions are just getting worse as retailers fight each other for data. I've tried many different tools over the years and the biggest issue isnt just the add button disappearing... its missing the price drops. If youre trying to stay on budget for the housewarming, you really need something that monitors the actual cost while you wait. I basically stopped using the Amazon assistant because it never alerted me when Target items went on clearance. These days i use PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on things because it actually tracks the price history without the weird extension glitches. It helps me snag the best deals without constantly refreshing the page. Just a thought if you want to save some cash while you finish that guest room!

I had this exact headache when I was sourcing components for my server rack last year. Im generally very satisfied with the Amazon Assistant for basic stuff, but it struggles with the way Targets script-heavy product pages load metadata. Its a common technical bottleneck where the extension fails to hook into the page elements properly. When I compared the Amazon tool to some dedicated registry apps, the difference in data scraping was huge. Amazons extension is convenient for staying in their ecosystem, but the frequent script errors on major competitors are a major con. On the other hand, something like MyRegistry handles the API calls much cleaner, tho you lose that native integration. In my experience, Amazon basically throttles their own tool on rival sites to keep you on their platform, so the missing button is likely a deliberate compatibility conflict...
