Is there any actual way to sync my Amazon cart across different regions, like from the US site to the UK one? Im moving from Jersey to London in two weeks and I have about $1200 worth of home stuff sitting in my .com cart that I need to buy once I get there.
I read somewhere that your account is technically global and some people said you can just use the Wish List feature to move things over, but when I tried that it just gave me links back to the US store which doesn't help with shipping costs. It feels like I'm gonna have to manually find every single item again on the UK site which is such a pain... is there a trick I'm missing?
Saw this and had to jump in because I went through this exact same headache when I moved from Chicago to London a while back. Honestly, I was pretty satisfied with how I ended up handling it, even though it wasn't a one-click sync like we all wish for. Since you're buying home stuff, my biggest tip is to search by the exact manufacturer model name rather than the generic title on the UK site. I had about 25 items in my US cart, mostly kitchen gear and some office tech. I found that if I just typed the specific model number into the UK search bar, about 80% of them popped up immediately with the local UK plug and voltage. It worked well and saved me a massive headache later on. I was super happy with how much money I saved by double-checking prices on local sites like Argos or Currys once I got there too. Sometimes the UK version of a US product is actually way cheaper at a local shop than on Amazon UK itself. Just be really careful with anything motorized or heated... US appliances usually wont work on the UK 230V system anyway, so you really want the local versions. Rebuilding the cart manually feels like a slog, but it's a blessing in disguise because it forces you to make sure you're getting the right electrical specs. No complaints here after doing it that way, it just took a bit of patience and a couple of mugs of tea to get through the list.
> Re: "Basically, you cant sync carts between regions because ASINs are region-locked." I actually have to disagree slightly on it being a total manual slog. While the backend data is siloed, I've been very satisfied using the Keepa browser extension for this exact scenario. It tracks products across multiple Amazon regions simultaneously. It works well because you can view the price history and availability for the UK site while looking at the US listing. Honestly, if you use a universal registry tool like MyRegistry, you can pull your .com cart into a single list and then use their "Find on Amazon" feature while logged into your .co.uk account. It’s a much more methodical way to transition. Just remember to double-check the voltage for any electronics... UK plugs are a whole different beast and a simple adapter doesnt always cut it for high-wattage home stuff.
Basically, you cant sync carts between regions because ASINs (Amazon Standard Identification Numbers) are region-locked. The backend databases for .com and .co.uk are distinct entities with different inventory sets. From my experience, you have a few ways to manage this transition.
