Im doing this huge meal prep for my brothers wedding party next month and I gotta get my Chrome shopping list syncing to my Pixel 7. Ive checked the sync flags and my Google account but it just isnt appearing.

  • needs to be instant
  • no extra apps

How do I force this sync to work?

honestly i had a similar nightmare trying to prep for my cousins baby shower last year. i thought i had everything synced up on my phone but when i got to the store... nothing. it was super stressful so i totally get the frustration. you gotta be real careful when messin with those experimental flags in chrome though. i almost broke my browser session once doing that and had to reinstall everything. i would suggest triple checking your account settings first before you touch anything too technical. there are a few things you might want to consider checking before you panic:

  • make sure the personal results toggle is actually on in your google assistant settings on the pixel
  • double check that you arent accidentally using a work profile on one of the devices
  • be careful about clearing your browser cache right now or you might lose the list items that havent actually uploaded to the cloud yet tbh i usually just open shoppinglist.google.com directly in the mobile browser tab instead of waiting for the system to sync. its the most reliable way to see what google actually has saved. i found out the hard way that if your battery saver is on it might delay the background sync for hours. just be careful and maybe screen grab the list once it finally shows up just in case it disappears again while you are at the store. i wouldnt want you to be stuck at the market with no list like i was.

I've been using this setup for years and im really satisfied with how it works once the settings are right. You basically just gotta make sure your Web & App Activity is turned on in your Google account settings. Since its a server-side list, thats what forces the instant sync between your PC and the Pixel. No extra apps needed and ive had no complaints. Works perfectly!

Honestly, saw this today and felt your pain. I tried using that exact Chrome feature for a massive cookout last month and it was a total letdown. Unfortunately, the native Chrome Shopping List sync is super buggy and barely works for most people. Ngl, I spent hours messing with flags and cache settings just to have a blank screen at the store. Compared to Google Keep, which is rock solid but requires more manual input, the Chrome version feels totally unfinished. Then you have the web-based Shopping List site which syncs fast but has a terrible layout that is hard to navigate on a Pixel. It is just not as good as expected from Google... total mess tbh. Basically, if it doesnt show up after a restart, it probably wont. I’ve been using Walmart Wishlist Creator for a few months now to track stuff I want to buy and it's super convenient.
