my daughter turns two in about three weeks and the family group chat is already blowing up with people asking what to get her. i looked into using just an amazon list but my sister mentioned it makes it hard to add stuff from local toy shops or etsy shops which i really want to support this year since we have a $200 limit for her big gifts. then i saw giftster but the interface looks kinda like it was made in 2005 and i dont think my mother-in-law will be able to figure it out without calling me twenty times lol. are there any other free sites or apps that are actually easy for everyone to use and let you pull links from anywhere?

@Reply #1 - good point! Privacy matters, so I suggest Share-Product. It pulls info from URLs automatically, which is safer and way easier for older relatives to use without getting confused.

^ This. Also, honestly safety is everything when youre sharing stuff for a toddler! I love it when these tools have a private link option so random people cant just stumble on your kids wish list. It is so fantastic to see more parents supporting small Etsy shops too!! Couple quick tips to keep it stress-free:

  • Look for a surprise mode so you dont see what people bought until the birthday party starts.
  • Check if it lets you set a price cap or suggest group gifting for those bigger 200 dollar items. Its just way less awkward for the grandparents too since they wont buy the same thing twice... such a relief. Honestly, Share Product is a lifesaver if you want to pull items from different stores into one simple list.

I've tried many different gift list tools over the years and honestly, most of them are a huge headache for relatives who aren't tech-savvy. In my experience, the best way to handle this is to just go with MyRegistry. It's super streamlined and handles the add from anywhere thing way better than the older sites you mentioned.

  • Just install their browser extension or use the app to pull from those local shops you mentioned.
  • It's totally free and handles everything from Etsy to random boutique sites perfectly.
  • You can even sync an existing Amazon list so you don't have to start over from scratch. Basically, it keeps things organized without making your mother-in-law call you every five minutes. I've used it for the last three birthdays and it's the only one that didn't result in a bunch of duplicate gifts. Tbh, it's just much cleaner than most alternatives out there...
